I met an amazing guy on Saturday night. He’s a recovering drug addict who sells books on the side of the road outside Wits. At first he was selling books to fund his drug habit, now he wants to spread a far more addictive drug: Books!
Philani Dladla, AKA The Pavement Bookworm, is on a mission to get underprivileged kids reading, and he needs our help. He’s launching a foundation on the 23rd of April, but he’s run into a bit of a problem.
This week, his friends car was stolen with all his books inside. Philani is desperately seeking donations of books. Any kind of book, old or new, fiction or non. Live in or around the Johannesburg area and would like to donate to Philani, please get hold of me, and we can get your books to him.
If you live further afield, the Foundation also takes cash donations, banking details can be found on their website if this suits you better.
If you want to find out more about Philani, please check out this website: http://www.pavementbookworm.co.za/
Come on friends, let’s pull together and help get Africa reading!
