My Writing Goals for 2016

I thoroughly believe that I will not achieve my dreams if I don’t set goals for myself, and once I’ve set those goals, I need to make them public. I feel a sense of responsibility, having told my friends and family that I’m going to do something makes me a lot more likely to achieve it.

This, then, is my list of goals for 2016.

  1. Publish Strong Medicine. I want nothing more than to get this book out in front of as many people as possible. I’ve submitted it to more than 20 publishers and agents. Some have sent form rejections, others requested partials and fulls. I’m hoping that I have found a home for it now, only time will tell.
  2. Finish 1st draft of The Dying Room. I’m currently just over 20,000 words and roughly 1/3 of the way through my plan. Gonna keep trucking.
  3. Write first draft of The Daemon’s Revenge. Also, complete first edit. This book has to go to the Greenwood group in a couple years, so I’d better get my butt into gear.
  4. Write six short stories. Not a particularly lofty goal, but I enjoy short stories and I’d like to produce more than I did this year (roughly zero).

Well, that’s my plan for ’16, what are your goals for the upcoming year?
